9 Must-Have Travel Snacks
What foods do you bring when you travel?
Ever since the time I had to pay $4.00 for a bottle of water in Florida, I make sure to pack my own food at home instead of relying on the food prices of wherever I am travelling to. Diet Blog made a recent post on nine snacks people should bring on travels:
- Water
- Fresh fruit
- Dried fruit
- Nuts
- Granola bars
- Trail mix
- Popcorn
- Rice cakes
- Boiled sweets
I rarely eat popcorn, but I will have some if it is free and I am hungry!
I make sure not to eat popcorn in theatres, though. Once I start, I cannot stop eating it and want more, even after I am finished with the bucket. Usually I bring water to keep from getting too thirsty, but if soda is the only drink available, I end up getting thirstier and wanting more popcorn and soda.
My favorite travel snack is a tie between nuts and fruits. I actually enjoy them so much that I eat them even when I am just sitting in my room. Who says you need to travel to enjoy some travel snacks?

Does anyone know what “boiled sweets” are?
I’d probably add sandwiches on wholemeal bread to that list. Tasty, filling and a good source of fibre if you pick the right bread.
As for your question. Boiled sweets is short for hard boiled sweets. We have them over here in the UK. Perhaps, you are more used to the term hard candy in the US? Anyway, they’re just like normal sweets/candy but hard instead of chewy. Below is a pic of what they look like:

Ah, thanks for clearing it up, Tom!
Yeah, I am more used to the term hard candy. But I hate bringing those for trips! It makes my tongue feel all funny.
If I’m travelling and I know it will be hard to find healthy, affordable food that suits my gluten free diet I bring some of my favourite nutrition bars:
